Fact: “Top predator of the Morrison Formation’s seasonal savannas.”

Description: Allosaurus was the dominant allosaurid carnosaur across the Morrison ecosystem, preying on ornithischians and subadult sauropods. Its skull combined cranial kinesis with laterally compressed, serrated teeth suited to slash–tear feeding. Bonebeds preserving numerous individuals hint at complex sociality or opportunistic aggregation around waterholes and carcasses.
